FAQs

When can I take holidays?

Most of the assignments take place during term time, and break in line with the school holidays. Most Tutors take holiday during these breaks in the year, but if you need time off during term time we would just need 30 days notice to arrange for suitable cover for your assignments.

Where do sessions take place?

It depends very much on the assignment itself. When we receive a request from a client, they provide information on the pupil in need of support, subjects to be covered and the planned days/times/location of the sessions. This could range from a home address, to a school or a public venue like a library.

Do you pay for planning time?

No - A lot of the assignments we have are for pupils that have historically not engaged with education. As such, we need all Tutors to be fully flexible and adapt on the spot to what will work for that pupil. We provide our own resources for activities & lessons, we have access to twinkl and a variety of other very useful platforms to drastically reduce the need to spend hours planning sessions.

What’s the rate of pay?

The rate of pay would differ case by case, as some assignments may be further to travel to, be more challenging, or entail working with groups instead of one-to-one. The base rate for a one-to-one assignment is £25 per hour, but group rates can go up to £35 per hour.

Can I claim travel/resource costs?

As with most agencies, we do not pay travel costs by the mile, or cover the cost of resources, however each assignment would be discussed, and an appropriate rate allocated that considers all factors involved - including travel distance and resources required.

When does a typical day start and finish?

Because most assignments take place in line with the school timetable (term time) - the majority of session fall in line with school hours too (between 08:30 and 16:00). There are however some assignments that run alongside school such as GCSE boosters that may take place in the evening after the school day.

How much paperwork needs to be completed outside of sessions?

Every week you need to complete a Timesheet to outline hours worked with each pupil, and register their attendance. You will also need to complete an Individual Tutoring Plan (ITP) which is a weekly report detailing every session and the progress made. Some Assignments may entail certification of Functional Skills. For these assignments you will also need to complete a scheme of work - This document takes no more than 5 minutes a week to complete.
